During the meeting between Cultural Consular Ehsan Khazaei and Syed Junaid Akhlaq, the two sides discussed common ground and cooperation capacities to promote and preserve the joint cultural and artistic heritage of Iran and Pakistan.
"Iran is a Muslim country and a close neighbor of Pakistan and there are many historical and cultural similarities between the two countries," said Director General Federal Department of Archaeology and Museums.
He announced full readiness of the Lok Virsa Cultural Complex in Islamabad to cooperate with Iranian Cultural Consulate to hold cultural programs.
Iranian Cultural Consular Ehsan Khazaei in his views said that there are many areas of cooperation in the cultural sector between Iran and Pakistan and hoped that with Federal Department of Archaeology and Museums would cooperate in this regards.
Khazaei added the Cultural Consulate of the Iranian embassy in Islamabad has put various programs on the agenda to promote the culture, customs, traditions, and civilization of the two countries.
He added under an agreement between Lok Virsa Museum of Pakistan and the National Museum of Iran cultural and artistic exhibitions, calligraphy workshop, Nowruz program and traditional Iranian music would be held between the two sides.
At the end of the meeting, the two sides stressed that holding joint programs would give the message of peace and solidarity between the two nations and expressed hope that mutual cooperation would expand further.
Lok Virsa Complex, the largest national heritage site in Pakistan was established in 1974. The museum consists of several buildings as well as an outdoor museum which can accommodate up to 3000 visitors.
In this complex, in addition to the Iranology Department, which is managed under the supervision of cultural consultants, other countries also have permanent booths.
It is worth mentioning that the Iranology section of this museum has always been welcomed by visitors and was recently visited by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage of Pakistan.
